SQLyog is the best database management tool I have ever used. It supports only MySQL and is officially supported only on Windows. Though there is nothing we can do about the database support, we can run SQLYog on Linux and OS X through Wine. Wine is an Open Source implementation of the Windows API on top of X, OpenGL and Unix. It can be used to run several windows applications but in this post we will focus on SQLyog

Download and install SQLyog safely and without concerns. SQLyog is a software product developed by Webyog Softworks and it is listed in Programming category under Database. SQLyog is a free software product and it is fully functional for an unlimited time although there may be other versions of this software product. We would like to show you a description here but the site won’t allow us. Download SQLyog Community Edition - A application that will allow you to manage MySQL databases, create, edit and run queries, design schemas and create SQL statements.

  1. Download and install XQuartz which is an implementation of X11 for OS X. The latest stable release is 2.3.0. You can check the releases page for the latest packages.
  2. Download and install Wine for OS X from www.kronenberg.org/darwine. The current stable release 1.0.1. The dmg has two applications Darwine and Trix. Darwine is the OS X version of wine and TRiX is an OS X frontend to Dan Kegels winetricks. It helps to install Fonts, Libraries and Runtimes. If you encounter any problems with this version of darwine you can also download darwine from thisismyinter.net.
  3. If Trix is installed use it to install everything just to be safe. This might take a long time and it requires and active internet connection. Have a coffe break :).
  4. After Trix is done, download SQLyog Community Edition Installer currently at version 7.13. Save it to Desktop. Double click the installer to start installation.
  5. I have created a mini application which will open SQLyog assuming you have done a standard installation. If you don't want to use the app, you can use the Terminal to start the application. Open Terminal and type 'open ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/SQLyog Community/SQLyog.exe' without quotes. Terminal can be found in Applications/Utlities.

MakeHuman downloads (for 1.2.x)

At this point we recommended that you download the stable release (1.2.0)

We are still producing nightly builds (see which version should I download?), which can be found in the download directory. Look for the file named *-nightly-windows.zip.

MakeHuman downloads (old version)

Since 1.2.0 has been released, we recommend that this is used if at all possible. However, it is still possible to download the old stable release (1.1.1).

The standard MakeHuman release with no extras bundled can be downloaded for Windows and OSX.

For Debian/Ubuntu derivates (such as any modern version of Ubuntu, Mint and so on), see the makehuman-official PPA for 1.1.x. For plain Debian see this instruction for how to enable PPA.

If you want to download the source code for MakeHuman and/or run from a source snapshot, see the MakeHuman repository on Github.

Often-used extensions

You will most likely also want some of the commonly used plugins, such as MHX2 and the asset downloader. These can be found on the plugins page. These are bundled in the 1.2.x releases and in the nightly builds.

Extra assets such as clothes, hair and skins

More assets for MakeHuman can be found in the online repository. Using MakeHuman 1.2.x you can download these assets from within the application.
